The Korean Society for the Philosophy of Science (KSPS) was founded in December 1995 by Korean philosophers and scientists who have had worked on philosophy of science, or been interested in philosophy, science, and the relationship between them. KSPS is a nationwide society, consisting of over 220 members.
The mission of the KSPS is to improve philosophical understanding of science with the help of research and discussion from various academic standpoints, and to popularize such understanding.
The KSPS annually holds two major academic conferences in summer and winter. This society also irregularly conducts seminars and colloquiums on specific issues in philosophy of science. The Korean Journal for the Philosophy of Science (KJPS), which is triannually published, is the official journal of KSPS. The issues are dated March, July, and November of each year. This journal provides a central platform for academic discussions among scholars inside and outside this society.

Submission Guidelines and Publication Fees
The Korean Journal for the Philosophy of Science (KJPS) is a journal that focuses on various issues in the philosophy of science, broadly understood. This journal is published three times a year, with issues dated in March, July, and November of each year. Each issue includes original papers, critical discussions, and book reviews. Original papers are limited to around 8,000 words, and critical discussion and book reviews to around 4,000 words all included (title, abstract, footnotes, citations).
The KJPS follows a blind reviewing procedure, which means that manuscripts should be prepared for anonymous review. Specifically, author names and affiliations should not be mentioned in the text or on the title page, and self-identifying citations and references should be avoided. Author details, including name, affiliation, email address etc., have to be provided in a separate file. The manuscript should contain an abstract of no more than 250 words and 4-6 keywords. Each file should be prepared in PDF, Word, or HWP format.
There are two ways to submit to the KJPS. First, manuscripts can be submitted by email. If you are to submit by email, please send your manuscript and a file including the author details as attachments to the following email address: philsci.edit@gmail.com. Second, you can submit your manuscript through the KJPS Journal & Article Management System (https://ksphilsci.jams.or.kr/). Registration and login are required to submit papers through the system.
The KJPS does not charge any submission fee to authors. However, authors whose papers are accepted for publication are requested to pay the following publication fee.
| Members | Nonmembers | |
|---|---|---|
| Publication with Acknowledgement of Funding | 400,000 KRW | 450,000 KRW |
| Publication without Acknowledgement of Funding [Tenure Track Faculty] | 150,000 KRW | 200,000 KRW |
| Publication without Acknowledgement of Funding [Non-Tenure Track Faculty or Student] | Free | 50,000 KRW |
- Twenty copies of an offprint of the accepted paper, for which the publication fee has been paid, will be sent to the author via post after the paper is published in the KJPS. Additional processing fees may be charged when extra copies are requested.
- Authors who publish their papers without any publication fee should pay the processing fees to obtain copies of their offprint.
- Articles that exceed the word limitations may incur additional processing fees.
The copyright is transferred to the Korean Society for the Philosophy of Science at the same time the paper is published in the KSPS.
